1983 Uganda 1,000 Shillings Banknote
Obverse: The front of the banknote features a portrait of former Ugandan President Milton Obote on the left side, dressed in a formal suit. In the center of the note, the denomination "1000" is prominently displayed inside an ornate, multi-colored design. The banknote's value is also written in both English ("ONE THOUSAND SHILLINGS") and Swahili ("SHILINGI ELFU MOJA") at the top. The coat of arms of Uganda is placed on the lower right, with the signatures of the Governor and Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda below. The serial number "H62 280215" appears twice, once on the top right and once on the bottom left.
Obverse lettering: BANK OF UGANDA, ONE THOUSAND SHILLINGS, SHILINGI ELFU MOJA, LEGAL TENDER FOR ONE THOUSAND SHILLINGS, 1000
Reverse: The reverse side depicts the modern Bank of Uganda headquarters in Kampala, with a detailed image of the building in the center. Palm trees and other elements of the surrounding landscape are also featured. The denomination "1000" is printed in each corner, and the value "ONE THOUSAND SHILLINGS SHILINGI ELFU MOJA" is repeated at the bottom, bordered by a decorative band.
