Obverse: Features a portrait of Kenneth Kaunda, the first President of Zambia, on the right side. On the left, an African fish eagle, the national bird of Zambia, is perched on a branch above the Zambian coat of arms. The denomination "5" is displayed in both numerals and text "FIVE KWACHA" in the center and corners. The serial number "30 C 947830" is printed on both the left and right sides.
Obverse lettering: BANK OF ZAMBIA, FIVE KWACHA, I PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND, FOR THE BANK OF ZAMBIA, GOVERNOR.
Reverse: Depicts a stunning aerial view of Victoria Falls, one of the largest and most famous waterfalls in the world. The denomination "5" is shown in both numerals and text "FIVE KWACHA" in the center and corners. The Zambian coat of arms is displayed on the upper left side.
Reverse lettering: BANK OF ZAMBIA, FIVE KWACHA.
