This colorful postcard captures Casablanca's indigenous quarter in the early 20th century. A flock of sheep is being led by a shepherd, with the grand minaret of the city's mosque visible in the distance.
The reverse side features a handwritten message in French, dated 6th January, which reads:
Translation:
"Casablanca, January 6th
"Dear Sir and Madam,"
"I am very happy at the start of this year to send you my most sincere wishes for happiness and good health. I am spending a wonderful vacation with my children and grandchildren, with beautiful weather, a mix of rain and sunshine. Just like springtime in France, Morocco is very beautiful right now."
This message gives insight into the personal connection and fond memories the writer had of Casablanca, particularly in contrast with their experience of France.
