This historic postcard presents a panoramic view of Tetuan, Morocco, with its whitewashed buildings sprawling across the landscape. Nestled between the Rif Mountains and the Mediterranean, Tetuan's unique architecture reflects its long history of Andalusian influence, dating back to the late 15th century when the city was repopulated by Muslims and Jews fleeing Spain after the Reconquista.
Tetuan was an important cultural and economic center, particularly during the Spanish Protectorate (1912–1956), when it served as the capital of the Spanish-administered zone of Morocco. The city's old medina, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known for its narrow streets, traditional houses, and the preservation of Andalusian architecture.
The reverse side of the postcard is unused, with space designated for correspondence and an address. The name L. Roisin, fotógrafo appears on the bottom left.
